New copper water lines and brass valves installed in a utility room by The Right Guyz

Maybe your water tastes like a swimming pool. Maybe there’s a smell when you first turn on the tap, or you’re tired of hauling cases of bottled water home from the store. A water filtration system can fix all of that at the source.

The Right Guyz installs whole-house filtration and point-of-use systems like under-sink reverse osmosis. We’ll help you figure out which one fits your house and your budget, and we’ll install it so filter changes are easy.

Common reasons people call us about water

  • Chlorine taste or smell in drinking water
  • Cloudy water or grit in faucet aerators
  • A rotten egg smell, which can also point to a water heater problem
  • Buying bottled water every week and wanting to stop
  • Wanting cleaner water for cooking, coffee, baby formula or pets
  • Homes on private wells outside the city with sediment or taste issues

Whole-house or under-sink

A whole-house filter sits on the main line where water enters the home, so every faucet, shower and appliance gets filtered water. It’s the best way to cut chlorine and sediment everywhere. An under-sink system treats water at one faucet, usually in the kitchen. Reverse osmosis systems can remove a lot more, which makes them a good choice for drinking and cooking water.

If your main complaint is scale and spots, that’s hardness, and a water softener is the right tool. Many San Antonio homes end up with a softener for the whole house and a small drinking water system at the kitchen sink.

For homes on wells

If you live in one of the towns south of the city, like Somerset, Von Ormy, Poteet or Elmendorf, you may be on a private well. Well water can carry sediment, iron or other issues that city water doesn’t. We recommend having well water tested by a lab first, and then we’ll help you choose equipment that addresses what the test finds.

No pressure and no scare tactics

Water treatment has a reputation for high-pressure sales. We don’t do that. Tito will ask what’s bothering you, explain what each option actually does, and give you a straight price. If you only need a simple filter, that’s what we’ll recommend.

How the job works

  1. 1

    Find out what's bothering you

Taste, smell, sediment and chlorine each call for a different kind of filter. We start by asking what you notice and testing your water.

  2. 2

    Recommend the right system

We explain the difference between whole-house and point-of-use systems and what each one will and won't remove.

  3. 3

    Install it cleanly

We plumb the system in with shut-off valves and, on whole-house units, a bypass so filter changes are quick.

  4. 4

    Show you the upkeep

You'll know which filters to buy, how often to change them and how to do it yourself, or we can handle it for you.

I called at 5 am, they arrived at 9 am. They gave extra care to my old country house and their concern for my delima was very much appreciated.

Water Filtration Systems questions

Is San Antonio tap water safe to drink?

City water is treated and tested to meet federal drinking water standards, and you can read your water utility's annual water quality report online. Most people who call us about filtration want better taste and smell, less chlorine, or protection from sediment.

Should I get a whole-house filter or an under-sink filter?

A whole-house filter treats every tap, shower and appliance, which is great for chlorine and sediment. An under-sink system, such as reverse osmosis, gives you very clean drinking and cooking water at one faucet. Many families pair a whole-house softener with an under-sink drinking water system.

Does a water softener filter my water?

Not really. A softener removes hardness minerals, but it doesn't take out chlorine, taste or odor. A filter handles those. We'll help you figure out whether you need one, the other or both.

How often do the filters need to be changed?

It depends on the system and how much water you use. Sediment and carbon filters are often changed every few months to a year. We'll give you a schedule for your specific system.
