San Antonio’s West Side is one of the oldest and proudest parts of the city, with deep Mexican-American roots, historic churches and family homes that have been passed down for generations. The Right Guyz serves the West Side from our base just to the south, and we explain every job in English or Spanish.
Old homes with old plumbing
Many West Side homes date from the early 1900s through the 1950s. A lot of them are pier-and-beam houses with plumbing running through a crawl space. They were built well, but the original plumbing materials have a limited life.
Galvanized water lines rust from the inside, causing low pressure, discolored water and pinhole leaks. Cast iron and clay drains crack, scale up and let tree roots in, which leads to repeated backups. Gas connections at older water heaters, stoves and wall heaters can be decades old and due for replacement. And in a hard freeze, pipes in a crawl space are more exposed than pipes in a slab home.
When we come out for one problem, we’ll let you know about anything else we notice, like a corroded gas connector or a water heater missing its safety parts. You decide what to take care of and when. We never push.
