A slow drain is easy to ignore until it turns into a sink full of dirty water or a toilet that won’t flush. The Right Guyz clears clogged drains all over San Antonio, and because we’re open 24/7, you don’t have to wait until Monday when a drain backs up on a Saturday night.
Signs of a clog that won’t go away
- Water draining slowly from a sink, tub or shower
- Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets
- Water coming up in the tub when you flush a toilet
- A sewer smell from floor drains or the yard
- Water backing up out of a floor drain or cleanout
- A toilet that clogs over and over
A single slow drain usually means a clog close to that fixture. When more than one drain acts up, especially on the lowest part of the house, the problem is often in the main sewer line, and that’s something to deal with quickly.
What causes clogs in San Antonio homes
Most household clogs come from grease, food, hair, soap scum and things that shouldn’t be flushed, including the wipes that say they’re flushable. Main line clogs are a different story. A lot of older homes across San Antonio still have clay or cast iron sewer lines. Tree roots find their way into the joints of clay pipe, and cast iron rusts and scales on the inside until the pipe narrows. San Antonio’s clay soil also shifts as it swells and dries out, which can make sewer lines sag or crack.
Clearing it and keeping it clear
For most sink, tub and toilet clogs, a properly sized drain cable clears the line. For main lines, we use a larger machine that can cut through roots. When a line is packed with grease or scale, hydro-jetting scours the inside of the pipe with high-pressure water and leaves it much cleaner than a cable can.
If a drain keeps clogging, there’s usually a reason. A sewer camera inspection lets us see inside the line and show you exactly what’s going on, whether it’s roots, a belly in the pipe or a broken section. Then you can decide what to do with real information in hand.
Honest advice, in English or Spanish
We won’t try to sell you a new sewer line to fix a grease clog. Tito will clear the drain, explain what he found and let you know if anything else needs attention. He explains it in whichever language your family prefers.
