The far South Side, out past Loop 410 in the 78221 ZIP code, has changed a lot in the last couple of decades. Master-planned communities like Mission Del Lago have grown up alongside older homes and rural lots, and The Right Guyz serves all of it from our base on the South Side.
Newer homes have their own plumbing needs
A lot of homes on the far South Side were built in the 2000s and 2010s. The pipes in those houses are generally in good shape, usually PEX or CPVC for water and PVC for drains. The equipment is another story. Builder-grade water heaters are reaching their 10 to 15 year mark, and San Antonio’s hard water makes many of them fail sooner.
If your house still has its original water heater, now is a good time to plan the replacement instead of waiting for a cold shower. Our water heater prices are posted, so you can budget for it. Many newer homes also have a softener loop in the garage that was never used. Adding a water softener protects the new heater and your fixtures, and it makes a big difference in the shower.
Families who run out of hot water often ask about tankless water heaters. We’ll give you an honest answer about whether it’s worth it for your house, including what it takes to supply enough gas.
Older homes and rural properties
Closer to Loop 410 and along the older roads that run south, there are homes that date back much further, plus properties on larger lots. Those houses bring the familiar South Side issues, like aging sewer lines, galvanized pipe and yard lines stressed by shifting clay soil. We handle sewer line repair, camera inspections and leak detection on those homes all the time.
